vis-à-vis

vis-à-vis. An invitation to encounter the presence of another through the making and sharing of food. To deeply connect through the stories of people, of ingredients, of products that move us. 

Literally “face to face” or “counterpart”—when one person or group stands in place for another—vis-à-vis is an intimate way for us to share our love and excitement about particular products or ingredients, to invite guest chefs and artists into our private space to share their own stories through food and communal gathering. 

It’s an invitation into our home to share and to learn, to be challenged, to celebrate both the familiar and the foreign.

Vis-à-vis is a kind of nostos, a return to the familiar, the intimate. A return to a space where barriers are broken and the walls have come down.
